"The assertion that the Postal Service must initiate major changes in its business plan to survive a grave crisis is false. It masks the central cause of USPS financial difficulties: the congressionally-imposed requirement to pre-pay retiree healthcare obligations."

Support 6-Day Mail Delivery

As you know from recent press reports, USPS is moving ahead with its plan to reduce mail delivery from the statutorily mandated 6 days to 5 days. Mail delivery is not only a vital part of the nation's economy, but also provides the timely delivery of much needed goods and services, such as medicines, payroll and government checks to all segments of our society.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is proposing to reduce days of mail delivery from the statutorily-mandated 6 days to only 5 days a week. Mail delivery is not only a vital part of the national economy, but also provides the timely delivery of needed goods and services to all segments of society. If accepted by Congress, 5-day delivery would begin a "death spiral", with the Postal Service reducing services each time they are faced with economic uncertainty, until universal service to the American people is ultimately threatened.

Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO) has introduced H RES 173, "Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States Postal Service should take all appropriate measures to ensure the continuation of its 6-day mail delivery service."

Please contact your Representative and urge them to cosponsor H RES 173.
